had a set og gp panels professionally repaired inc filler.
done in a bmw/audi bodyshop
the right hand side panel wasnt true at the back so "bent it round" to fit better but the filler cracked for 5 inches up from the usual troublesome place (back of rear runner corner up)
can this be locally repaired or does all the filler need to come off and be redone?
cheers

That doesn't sound good, I don't know how much 'bending' was involved but the filler shouldn't have been thich enough to have cracked with slight bending. If it's just a crack you could grind it out to a v shape down to the metal and re-fill and sand. Had the panel cracked prior to the bodyshop repair ans needed to be welded? if so, it's possible the weld has cracked too which will need to be sorted before any other repairs.
thanks coaster
the panel had cracked previously - the guy welded it then put a plate behind and a zillion spot welds to ensure it didnt go again.
i must admit i did bend it round a bit - suppose in an ideal world it should have been in the fitted stressed position before the filler went on
heard the inevitable crack and had the usual lambretta feeling of sinking in the stomach when everything inevitably goes tits up

I think you know the answer, the whole lot will have to come out so you can get at it. To be honest it may be better just buying a new one and respraying again. Painful i know but its already been welded loads before the likley hood is it will go again.mickdale wrote:thanks coaster

I know the feeling....

they were bought as original dl panels - if i got a new sil left hand side one, are they dimensionally the same?
i thought there was a difference to the top strip width?
