Hi, sorry for might seem a basic question, I have fitted new rear hub bearing and now that Im rebuilding the motor I have measured the clearance at the endplate as .35mm

I know that the advised range is .07 to .30mm

the shim in there is 2.3mm I reckon, will measure with metric tools tomoro at work, 90 thou.

anyway

do I aim for a clearance in the middle of the ranges, ie maybe 0.15? and thus buy a 2.5mm shim,or if stuck between sizes is there any sensible reasoning or modern thoughts on which end of the tolerance I shoulld aim for.

thanks

you should aim for the lower end ( 0.07mm ) rather than have to much play.
