indian fork spring stops

anyone now if my 1981 SIL Vijai super has steel fork spring tops or the nylon type? need to know because i dont really wanna strip down my forks to fit dampers

Mine had nylon..if your welding on top brackets for dampers I would remove springs just to be on the safe side plus check their condition if it's a fresh import from Delhi as their roads are pretty lumpy to say the least :grin: mine had a broken spring on inspection.

well i tried to strip my down today and using the trusty stickys book got pissed off with it because i didnt get anywhere after and hour of trying to lever out the bump stops(that and it was freezing cold with snow) so maybe another attempt when im not pissed off with it i think :d

Do the stops have bent over strips of metal that hold them In place? If they do bend them over for ease of removal.

well apparently the whole scoot was rebuilt before it came into my possession. however, if the engine rebuild was anything to go buy they will be a tw*t haha

we had a mare getting the stops out when i fitted disc conversion nightmare but i replaced fork links and fork rods inside springs as well much better now
