Had a club man on it pretty much the same plus the baffles fell out of it after a few weeks that's why I put my jl3 on it , could be the gearing , or clutch slip as joe said , tho I haven't got the money to splash out on a new gearbox
Well if you check out clutch and everything is fine, see if you can borrow an sx / jet 200 gearbox and just try it ..... Because you will easily be able to do a straight swop for your pacemaker with someone . No money to find.

That combination of gearing gives you 4.91:1 and at 60 mph you should be doing around 6,000 rpm which isn't exactly screaming
Putting a 18 tooth fron sprocket on will drop the gearing to 4.7:1 and knock 200 rpm off at 60 mph but it's [possible that your engine might struggle to rev out in 4th. Is your mate absolutely sure that it has a 17 tooth sprocket on it? With standard Pacemeker gears and sprockets (15/46) your revs would be 6700 rpm at 60 mph (5.65:1).
If all else fails, get yourself some earplugs

pacemaker box is the best box suited for you and most other engines used with the correct sprockets you cant go far wrong,if you try the sx /jet box it will soon sort out the clutch, try the 18t sprocket but pull the clutch out to inspect your halfway there with the side off.
if the mugello isnt high hp then your better sticking with the pacemaker box!
