Byron, You were one of the ones developing the the wassel conversion and im sure youve done plenty. I've not fitted any to any of the scooters i have DC'd. I use a tacho from a honda which does need 12v DC to power it. If the meter is meant to get it's power [not the ignition pulse] from AC, then I'd try as eden did; use of one of the "yellow"s from the stator, but through a regulator.carlos fandango wrote: Have you had any issues with new rev counters after the conversion ?

However, once connected to the wassel reg the yellow AC wires will be regulated. Compare the voltage of them whilst connected against unconnected.
I don't know what signal the gauge is looking for but if it only counts the positive pulses, then one yellow feeding it (half wave) will be sufficient.
If the gauge needs the full AC signal, then both yellows would need to be used. This would mean that the gauge would need isolating from earth (earth connection now fed from second yellow). The power wire would also, now, have to be AC and also connected to the yellow as otherwise it would only get half wave.

Am I on the wrong track with this thread the Koso one shown is a Speedo and rev counter and I understood the speedo part is fine so surly its set up for DC or it would not work at all. If that's the case your problem sounds like the pick-up for the tacho, I have been looking at various digital Tacho's and most now dont use the induction wrap round type of pick-up. If yours has to be this type I would go down the route of shielding the pick-up wire back to the speedo. Does it respond to revs or is it just not stable?
I don't want to blow your gauge either but have you tried connecting to your green at the ignition switch, that's how the Acewell one works.

The speedo i have is for DC and ive wired it up as suggested in the instructions. I was going to scan the wiring diagram and post it up, but i forgot to bring it home
It does show revs but jumps about. I think you may have something though about shielding the pick up wireMonty wrote:guys

Is there something i can buy to shield it ? a sleeving or something ?
I would be looking round at work as we use a braided copper sleeve that you push together, thread the wire and pull it tight. Its like the wire round your coax TV aerial. Have a search for EFI copper, ebay brings up a good amount of copper self adhesive foil that you could wrap round the wire or I have uses a copper braided solder wick type material before. Wind it round in a loose spiral and Heat shrink it. I would earth it at one end. you could also try a simple clip on Ferrite core, (maplins) Thread the wire through the core a few times
