Took it out for a short run today with the exaust off. It seemed to rev a lot better, not quite sure if the problem has gone, I didn't go very far because of the noise.
But I did find that one of the manifold threads on the cylinder head has stripped and the u-bend was actually loose.
So could this have been causing an air leak.
And what's the best way to sort this out, is a helicoil ok to use?

Thanks.

Errr....running with the exhaust off is one massive air leak!

Also what do you mean by "manifold threads on the cylinder head" ?

What i meant was the exhaust u-bend to cylinder head, one of the studs was loose in the cylinder head.

The exhaust u bend goes to the barrel not the cylinder head !!

Run an m7 tap up through the hole to clean the threads out ,you'll find that a new stud and some loctite will do the job hopefully!!

Cylinder head...... What am I going on about!
Of course I meant the barrel.
And I did just that, cleaned it up with a tap and a blob of locktite and it's done the job thankfully.
Hope it holds.

Cheers.

Ok for anyone who may be intrested. I bit the bullet and bouth a 26mm dellorto. Fitted it including a longer throttle cable etc.
It fired up straight away and I took it for a quick run, the difference was immediate. It pulled much better and didn't feel restricted at all. It still pulled very well in 4th and still seemed to have plenty left.
Will take it for a longer run tommorow and see how it goes.
Just got a bit of a problem with the throttle not always returning shut.

F*#*+*g jetex! :flaming:
