2d1 is a two stroke needle, that spray type is the same as three carbs I have lying about in the front room, although in one of those the tube is flush with the Venturi, whereas the other two it sticks up like that.

Thank you all, much appreciated, chuffed its a 2 stroke as I've just bought another one "blind" and its exactly the same.Someone had one on a Lammy awhile back at the wickstead parts fair, heard it start up and it took me back ,the induction sound is different I think to that of a dellorto, sort of like a dellorto with a 40 a day smoking habbit.Just fancied putting one on over the winter months and see how it goes - rapido 225.Again thank you.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.

I'm going back a long time now to 1968, and the only Amal Concentric carb I saw on a Lambretta needed "tickling" (small button on top?) before you could start it.

Anyone know if I'm right or simply getting senile......

I think you're right Chris.
For those too young, you pressed a small button on top of the float bowl, this pushed down the float, and the carb flooded - you soon learned how much to give it, or carry lots of spare plugs.
