Hey, I just tried to install the anti-dive upgrade to my disk brake but ran into a problem. No instructions in box. I installed but there is a space about 2mm between where the caliper attaches and the new plate with the "i". I installed this way:
- took off caliper
- took off hub
- took off wheel rim
- took off bushing that hold in the oil seal
- took off axle nut
- slid out axle
- took off old speedo cover, took out drive bush and grease nipple: installed bush and nipple in new speedo cover
- took off old plate without antidive
- took out old speedo drive gear set and replaced with new
- took out the bushing on the inside of the brake housing, its in the middle of the large speedo gear and replaced with the shorter one in the kit
- put on the new speedo drive cover
- put the provided disk link axle through the new plate with antidive (greased)
- put the axle through the hub
- put the oil seal bushing in
- tightened the axle nut but only tight enough so the hub turns freely
- put the hub back on the fork, install the washer and hub nuts
- take off the damper and install the anti-dive brace
- try to install the caliper, but there is a space between mounting points of the caliper and the antidive plate
- the space is slightly thicker than the lock washer used to hold the caliper bolts
There is a space between the speedo housing and the hub. It looks like the same distance between the caliper and the backing plate. Is it not supposed to be tight as this would let in water? And is this also causing the gap so I cannot attach the caliper? I have taken it apart and reassembled twice. Same result.
How does this compare to yours? Does your speedo housing sit flush up against the hub?
Any ideas?

I can't quite grasp what the problem is but the hub spins and the speedo housing doesn't so it wouldn't sit tight. If it did sit tight it wouldn't turn as the disc securing bolt heads would foul against the new speedo hosing. Sounds like you may have missed a spacing washer / bush or put one in the wrong place. I've got one heare, these's a gap between the disc and the speedo housing approx 2mm but the caliper fits on the caliper mounting plate with no problem. The hub spins in use and the speedo housing is free to move but is only held static by the speedo cable. I don't want to take this apart but it sounds like you could have fitted a spacing washer / bush that goes under the speedo housing above it? If you ordered it direct from scootrs they would have sent you a link to how to fit it with an email confirming the order, it would be a better system to include those instructions with the kit rather than on an email that you wouldn't have seen unless you read the small print somewhere.
I think this is the only relevant bit of info from scootrs from their instructions.
Anti-dive bracket upgrade:
If upgrading only the caliper bracket to the new anti-dive one, you remove the old bracket and every item down to and including the old speedo cover. Then replace with only the new items: put on the new speedo cover (with your speedo internals added to it), new thin washer and new caliper bracket (open the round washer section and apply a little grease inside first). That's it. To finish attach your fork link and your outer axle bolt. See below for more.
Not much info but there's not really much too it, you're just replacing like for like.

Didn't want to but I was intrigued so took mine apart to see if I could see what it might be. There is a bush that sits between the speedo housing and the caliper carrier plate that could be put in upside down [or possibly missed out] but on reassembly it didn't make much difference so the only other thing I can think of it that the caliper pistons are pushed out and need pushing back into place so that the caliper can seat onto the disc and allow the 2 plates to come into contact.

Bingo. I redid it twice. I did not compress the floating calliper. Noob mistake, but I try so I learn.

I'm surprised by how much of an improvement the anti dive makes.

One thing I dont get. I replaced the speedo gear. The large gear is not fixed down, just slides on. What stops it from rotating?

if it slipped on that easily, then a bit of loctite/bearing sealant will help

Personally I'd invest in one that fits properly, I don't like the sound of it spinning where I can't see it :-?

As its cold and raining todAy i took it apart again. As its my fifth time it goes fast. Compared the new vietnam made speedo drive bushing to my originL part. The aftermarket part did not fit tight. Hard to believe the tollerances are not as good as stock lMbrettA parts. Glad i was sitting down for that revelation. As the old.part was not that worn i degreased it and reinstalled. Nice and tight. I used a new speedo.drive.

I also noticed the inside nissin brake pad was cAtching On the caliper housing. Ground it down and now my pads are moving as intended.

I was also careful this time to hold the inside nut that secures the grease bushing and axle in place so it would not turn when put back in the forks and tightening the Outzide nut.

My scooter is in a happy place. Now if the cold rain would give it a rest.
