I lived in Venice Beach Ca, where lowrider bicycle culture is HUGE. I had a rusty Schwinn beach cruiser with a springer front end and insane Ape hangers. Dudes with 4,000.00$ lowrider push bikes went ape s**t for my "Rusty". I could have sold it any time for 5 times what it cost me. I'm just sayin.....
that was one of the reasons i gave up the "classic" scooters you just cant leave them anywere and fcuk of and get on with normal life and if you do you need 20kgs of lock and chain if someone pushed my GTS over so what sure ill be a bit pissed of but not like i would with an old timer i have a scoot like mine to incorporate it into my normal life day to day , used as a tool not a fashion statement ;)
We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm

Reading the other thread that yet another lambretta has been nicked made me think the only downside to owning scooters ( apart from the sh1t brit weather) is your ever mindfull of some scum tosser pinching it..

I like to try and keep my scoots tidy just like my cars in fact all my stuff. Its not a fashion thing more a personal preference. so the rust paint isnt for me. It reminds me of fake mud stickers peeps stuck along the side of their 4x4's i even keep my vespa tidy but it is handy to park in front of me lammies in the shed.
If anyone manages to move the volvo against the door and get in they have to move the vespa anorl to get at the lammies. Unless they got no taste :)

I am a big fan of scoots that are well engineered, but bodywise are either patina or just look totally f@@ked cos there owners ride them everywhere all year avin a laugh with there mates.

Summer use only, posing looking at our own reflections in wine bar windows just doesn't float my slightly weathered boat.

This honda cn250 thing went through my hands recently ,i suppose if i was in the market for hack commuter/tourer and didn't prefer using traditionals it would be ideal, with no retro styling or fashion statement badging and 250cc, with 46,000 miles it still sounded like a sewing machine (honda so no rattles or bits catching fire :D ) .
It went for about 600 quid ,no rust paint ,but it was matt green
