Not having much fun at the moment -- anyone had this happen before?

I'm tightening up the nut on the link bolt -- torque according to Sticky's manual 54-55 nm.

Get to the point where the shakeproof washer is flattening and then just at that point the nut torque goes much lower and then the nut just goes round easy. I got the nut off and manage to get the bolt out, and basically, it's just pulled the thread of the bolt.

Stainless bolt from a well thought of dealer -- well p£$%*d off :flaming: .

So is it stripping before you get to the correct torque setting??

Interestingly stickys manual does specify this torque setting as Indian, don't know if that's due to different metal or no one has a record of the original factory spec setting, but then neither would have been stainless :-/

I rebuild 2 sets of forks in the last 12 months or so and both used good quality stainless bolts and torqued up no problems though.
Donnie.
