Taking resistance readings from a CDI is not really any help as circuits and components used vary. The best way of checking a CDI is to swap it for another one. I think a cheap Indian CDI (less than £15) wrapped in bubble wrap is an ESSENTIAL tool to carry in the tool box at all times and can act as a get yoiu home spare too.
