I fancy going on my 190 Suzuki conversion (cast iron one with 110 rod) I built early this year to Brid :fb: :fb: :fb: – thing is I’ve only really managed to get 280 miles ( this is a rebore and new piston by the way ) on pottering around up and down the gears slow then short bursts of power- on it most ive done in one stretch is about 30 miles , whats run in on one of these -- going to have to hold her at 50- 60 for the A64 for about 30 miles before a get on the back roads full distance for me is about 70 miles from where i live.

too soon IMO- holding at 50/60 after 280 miles on a cast iron barrel following new piston and rebore is asking for trouble.

Trouble with rebores on cast is that one gets complacent ( me for one!!) after say 400 miles or so, and gives it some welly with the inevitable result.

Short fast bursts for another 300/400 are the way to go IMO

People quote speeds when running in but depends on gearing. If you have covered 280 miles already then your pass the critical stage.I was sitting at 50mph by then on 4.8.I've never gone the whole 700 odd mls running in but that's because I just went round the countryside giving quite a few quick bursts for the 1st few hundred miles. Did this motor run good before with the spec you got on it now?

its 16 x 46 on li 150 so calculator says 4.89 ratio box ran ace before bore ring gap is 0.3 mm when built haven't checked it since
it runs an old remote reed valve on it as well - not sure that make any difference-

If it run ok before the rebore then its good,if you could get a couple more miles on it before the off then good but your running the same final ratio as me and I had no issues at 50mph with that mileage and had about 3 thou.clearance.

Yes,i have a red GP and live in Oxford so come and get me if ya fancy some!!
On a serious note,i talk from experience not opinion or theory. There was a guy who came on here briefly a few years ago and he didnt need Andrex for about a month or two but he told me how to run in an iron motor yrs ago and its always worked well for me. :D

You could always leave earlier in the morning and take your time and just enjoy the ride :D It's not about the destination, but enjoying the getting there ;) :D
