I'm running a 200 Mugello for reliability..Make sure it's all matched up properly...Which mine wasn't when it was purchased...Muppet wrote:Nowt rong with a 200 as it is; could have it tweaked by one of the many on here that do the tuning thing,

I had one of the early ones and it ran ok, but now a grown up has looked at it recently matched and polished bits and it runs much better and fuel consumption has improved....

Im not into spending money unnecessarily which is why ive been a fan of the good ol Indian barrel,it strong, cheap, reliable and with a 28/30 carb and even just a cheapo bigbore,it will go well.Theres quite a few of them my way and including one in my garage.Setup correct, will give you 70mph+ and good pulling,im on my 10th yr with open mouth carb and still on original bore.weedodger wrote:im not looking from great speed, but reliability, and hope to head to belgium on it next year.![]()

All bar one of my scooters on the road are tuned. The one that is standard is a GP200 with a SIL cast iron top end. Supposedly this was a chisel speed stage 4 tune. It has a standard GP gearing and standard jetting for a 22mm Dellorto, (123 main) but with a foam filter. The exhaust is a standard clubman. Compared to the tuned scooters, it is a pleasure to drive.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a different ride from the TS1 and Monza, but so smooooooth, good acceleration, will do 70mph and economical. Took it to Italy this year and drove on motorways at full chat with 9 other scooters at 30 degrees heat and no problem. In fact, mine and another GP, were the only 2 Lambrettas that didn't break down during that 900 mile trip.
So I would recommend a standard GP, it beats my other standardish classic rapido 200 (30 PHBH and PM28 pipe) well into second place.
In fact, I have spare Indian barrel that I am going to have fettled to stage 4 and take the rapido top end off.

Why not just put another small carb and clubman on the rapido?paulnobodyimportant wrote: So I would recommend a standard GP, it beats my other standardish classic rapido 200 (30 PHBH and PM28 pipe) well into second place.

I'm a bit disapointed with the rapido. Right from the outset, I matched it with a 30PHBH and AF Clubman and now a RB28 pipe and still lack lustre. So do you think that it would be a better ride, back with the AF clubman and Jetex 22.
