Hello I am pulling out what hair I dont have
I am building from a basket case, a indian gp 200 and at every step something goes wrong , But using meter redings I found the coil to the pickup was broken and ordered another but I thought what the hell and also bought a complete SIL setup that is a flywheel a reg/rec and a flywheel and a backplate and this arrived first so banged it all on tonight but even though the meter readings all match the correct ones I can not see a spark
So my question is doing away with all wiring that is not needed for the spark what can I get away with?
Is it possible to not use the reg/rec for instance?
minimum wiring for spark
unplug green out of cdi .. not the one from stator

also be sure you have a good earth between motor /frame and cdi

Thanks guys
I have made a few blunders first I ordered a pickup instead of a low t coil and whilst waiting for the corect one I ordered the full set up only to mess that one up as well as i ordered a LI/TV/SX instead of a gp and the flywheel doesnt fit but the backplate seems similar, well it looks exactly the same, are they the same? and if so I could use the old flywheel if not I will save it for the very scuffy series two i am doing next and wait for the low t coil and attempt to soldier that on the old backplate all new stuff for me a very steep learning curve for me
The engine was a mess and needed at least six or seven helicoils and a different gearbox and many new bearings and seals holes in casing and so full of metal filings that had worked through to the rear hub seal and destroyed it, the chain was that slack that you coul see the grind marks in the casing the kickstart tube had no internals the clutch pin was seized and lots more even though the dealer I bought it off told me the engine would be ready to drop in the frame and was a runner and he had checked the ignition system and all seemed OK Im not naming him but at every step of the way the whole thing has been a nightmare but one thing that is good is the knowledge that I have been learning is much more valuable than the crap I was ripped off with

yep, best way to learn is to get your fingers dirty, will be cheapest way too.
could believe the state of the engine being a mess if bought off a mate of a mate of a mate but a dealer hmmm.

stators are the same for SX & GP
but often the pickup will not line up well with the flywheel...
I generally make some marks on the pickup in line with the triggers, then see how this matches with the flywheel magnets, then move the pickup in or out by removing or adding laminates, which is a pain of a job, but worthwhile. It doesn't have to be exactly in line, but some aren't even in the park...
yes, i say name the dealer, with all the facts...

Thanks for the help regarding the heights of the pickup will check and adjust if needed as something is wrong as I have put a bolt (temporary ) right through a hole in the frame loop facing upwards for ease of connections, for a good earth and fastened all earths including a seperate one from the engine to it and still no spark
also the low tension coil has arived today, so will have a go at setting the original backplate up when I have worked out which way to soldier it
as for naming the dealer I dont want to even though I feel a pissed off I go back a long way, with not just him but a lot of his mates are my mates and even though I have no nice thoughts for him at the moment I did push him a little to get it finished
