I have an original 4 pole non battery stator that was running before the rebuilt of my S2.
I gave it to a friend and changed the points and the condenser.

Points:
Just to be sure I used a piece of fine wet and dry abrasive paper on the contact faces .
Set the gap at +/- 4mm

I performed the bulb test : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auQXjLu8Nms
I have no idea if this is the correct result of the test.

The fact is that from the 3 wires coming out of the stator (Green - Pink - Brown) when brought close to earth point only the Pink and Brown create a spark.
There is no spark in the spark plug !!!
Should also the green greate a spark or this not ?

Any suggestion or test ???

Thanks

It's hard to tell from that video as it appears you are kicking it over. This should be done by removing the spark plug and turning the flywheel slowly by hand.
Yes, the green should spark against the engine casing, this should be stronger but not as frequent as the sparking on the brown and pink.

Thanks for the reply

There is no spark at all from the Green wire.
I will do the test by hand and let you know the outcome.

if you "brush/stroke " the green wire onto say ..the flange ,whilst kicking over it should spark..
if not then theres somthing amiss in stator..........prob condensor
if it does..........then make sure its connected to the correct side of coil............
also make sure frame is earthed back to engine...........

Just did the bulb test by hand.

From a position 3 o'clock until 11 o'clock the bulb is bright and the rest of the way totally off.

Does that help to spot the problem?

When you do the test, with the points closed the lamp should be bright and as the the points open the lamp should dim.
If when the points open the lamp goes out, then the ignition feed coil is open circuit.
If when the points open the lamp brightness doesn't change, then either the points aren't insulated properly, the condensor is short circuit or the green is earthing somewhere.

Frame is earthed to engine I have checked it.
The Green wire does not spark.
I am waiting for a new condensor just in case that the one that I use is faulty.

Can you pls advice the correct connection between
1 coil with thin wire
1 coil with thiker wire
1 condensor
1 points

Thanks

Panosk, just realised what system you have. On the system you have the pink wire must be earthed before you will get a spark off the green. This is why the test lamp goes out when the points open. Normally the pink will earth through the one hole brake switch, when the pedal is pressed the ignition can only earth through the rear brake light.
Earth the pink and try the test again.

I just did the test one more time with the Pink wire earthed.
The bulb is always bright and as I turn the flywheel it gets instantly brighter.
