With the correct jetting it won't seize your engine but gear ratios are critical to how well it performs or not as the case may be. Imola kit is designed to rev high given that the carb is big enough to supply enough fuel. Some exhausts allow the engine to rev higher, scootrs being one of them but revvy exhausts also like low gearing ito be able to perform.
You'd need to say what carb and more importantly what gearing you currently run to get the right info.
My Imola performed really well with a Scootrs exhaust combined with a Mikuni TMX27 carb and 5.4 final drive gearing.

i ran a scootrs pipe for a couple of years it was perfectly ok, nothing over special, and certainly not crap just reasonablely good, it suffered from stress and required welding but was fair value for money. then i tried a ads5 in chrome plated steel which was extremely industrially well made but probably more suited to a ts1 than the imola in its power delivery so then i tried the ads3 which has made the imola perform brilliantly plenty of power and in the right range. hope this is of some help as at 350 quid for a pipe inc chrome it can be an expensive way of finding out which pipe suits.(my gearing is 16/46 li150) ;)

GP150 gearing has a big gap between 3rd and 4th gear. It also has 4.8 final drive which is bad for Imola kit and revvy exhausts. You need to drop the front sprocket to a 16 and fit an 81 link chain, that'll make the final drive gearing 5.4, pretty much what mine was when it was a flyer. Unless you've already got both carbs I wouldn't bother changing it, you're unlikely to see much of a difference between 28 and 30. Mine was good for around 80 mph even with the short gearing because it revved over 9,000 rpm.
