Think of putting one of these in a engine I am building. A few more cc's to pull my weight. ( this type)

A couple of questions.

Do they have overheating issues with the extra metal that is removed to take the 66mm piston. (my thinking behind this is there is less metal left to dissapate the heat.)

Also what is the quality of the kits ??? Has any one had issues when fitting/using one.

Thanks Gaz.

I bought one off ebay. I got it tidied up & stage 4 tuned. Stucka 28 mm delly & 42 MM clubman on it & got it dynoed. I use it everyday, 22 miles motorway miles round trip. I've been running it for 3 months & so far I cant fault it, it hasn't missed a beat. As long as you realise what it is & dont take the p155 with strangling every ounce of power out of it all the time I recommend it.

used a TV175 barrel bored to 66mm and a £30 Mahle piston from Scooter Restorations- modified a 175 head to suit, and it flies for very little money. No nip ups or problems..............yet

Mine is going to have a Li125 gearbox was going to go with the 16/46 gearing. does the 17 tooth front sprocket make much difference to the gearing ???

Carb wise I have a Keihin 28mm carb and was thinking of going with a scootrs pipe or maybe a clubman. Don't think my top end would be as high as yours as its going in a series 2.

Ive had mine bored to 66mm with an Asso piston.
Running 15/46 iirc, spanish LI gearbox i think, newstyle AF clubman and PHBH 30.....sits around 50-55 happy enough....got upto 58mph on a free phone gps speedo app.
Did Gloucester to WSM and back in a day the other week and ran well, about 55 miles going via Bristol/no Mway.
Doubt id go on a real long ride though.
Theres no overbore possible though as the walls are rather thin......
Id go for a 185 least then if owt happens you have the option of rebores instead of a whole new kit

Thanks Col. Might keep my eye out for a 17t front sprocket. Will I need a new chain or should I be ok with the old chain ???
