I have fitted the bearing cone at the bottom and inner piece then as I try to slide the forks up the frame tube the metal flat bar that is welded on at the top (steering lock related I think) of the forks doesn't go past the bearing cone at the bottom.

HAVE I

A. Fitted the inner piece in the bottom bearing cone too soon and needs to be removed?

B. there's is no B :wtf:

Also fitted the chrome ring should I have done this after the forks :wtf:

I can confirm that;

That when knocking out the bottom cone many months ago I have put the inner piece that sits in the chrome ring inside the bottom bearing cone.....and then refitted it :barfy: must have been trying to keep em together.

Sorry for the confusion folks...this has to be a first and one of the finest feck ups :bigsm:

That's the top steering bearing race and the bearings that sit on it before first locking ring then tabbed washer then final locking ring
