Picked up a used, and i assume 'Indian' (due to the roughness of the ports) 175 iron barrel kit complete with piston and head. All seems ok (nothing a bit of fettling cant sort out),but the piston looks a bit too cheap and nasty!!.Its made by 'GOL',and is a 3 ring type. Now,i have a couple of new/old stock 'GOL' pistons for a series 2 Li 150,they are 2 ring, and look a much better quality,so whats the score with the 3 ring type?,Im tempted to bin it and get an 'Asso' branded thin 2 ring piston, then again,if it aint broke, dont fix it!,anybody out there using a kit with the 3 ring 'GOL'? :?:

I have used several of them. Most are in my pile of destroyed pistons. I'm not a fan of them, but they do the job. I would prefer a 2 thin ring version. They're made in italy if i remember correctly. I think they are made more to stock standards, with the transfer supports at the back of the piston, and 3 thick rings. They can take a beating though, and have always got me home- even with several heat seizures far from home. They are a "plan B" for me if i can't get a thin ring style.
