beleive it or not mine was worse when i got it, no way would i give in and repaint, used a very sympathetic approach to layering on ochre paint id had mixed at the local lechler dealer and rubbing back to match the existing paint!!

:D perfect..went down to my paint dealer this morning..lada niva 208 has now been discontinued :( ..2 of the mixers contained led so are now not available.. ..anyway a very helpful and interested guy once I said what it was for :D, he mixed me an aerosol of lechler CN8515 which is incredible close indeed, I had taken the toolbox door with which the central fin was still mint, he used this for matching..he also gave me some great advise trying to match old with new, he has also advised against laquer as its a pantone ?? so just said touch up bad bits then flat back all paint then cut and polish..a lot time spent by him for a £7.50 can of paint lol

right then a little update, spent the last couple of days in the garden working on the Jet frame ( well how else do you want to spend a week off work ) ;)

No skin left on my knuckles and no doubt dermatitis from all the chemicals ive been using (to clean the frame) :freak: :

As it arrived..

After scrubbing/cleaning..acetone..cutting compound..oh and my finger prints have gone , also removed heavy rust left by bare seat frame sat on the loop for god knows how many years and carefully added new lechler paint B/W of aerosol a little at a time then slowly blending in with the old paint (sorry rusty lovers my OCD just would not allow it) :? ..anyway its come out better than expected and I shall leave it for a few days before a quick 1500 sand then compound and polish..

The inside of the loop battery tray and tube/fork stem have remained untouched apart from cleaning and scrubbing..and will remain so..the original green internals have also been cleaned compounded and polished and have come up lovely, again this is all that will be done to them, the original legshields and front mudguard will remain untouched as I will source different leggys and front mudguard to go with sidepanels/horncast already sourced (and not mustard) so they can be painted rattle can style (for effect) so I can match the frame loop, original forks and front hub (in fiat silver) will be cleaned and fitted as they are.. :D It will be no showpiece but will breathe new life into one of my all time favourite scooters..after been left to rot for so many years..
