Just after a bit of info really. Should the mag flange be a tight fit. When stripping the engine the threads for reomaval where knackered so I had to tap it out with a mallet. It come out ok with no damage and the only one thread for the cowlings that was knacker which I have drilled and retapped and know ok.

I am going to retap the threads to the next size up for removal in the future but after cleaning the casing and mag flange I tried them for fit anf it is quite a tight fit is this right ???

Sorry if daft question  but just wanting it right before i start the rebuild.

Gaz.

If it came out it should go back in - just make sure all is clean and free of burrs.
Did you have to do that?

What Digger said and put a smear of grease around the outside to help it slide in and also helps to seal it too.

Put it in a poly bag while you fit the big circlip...will save you picking it out of the four corners of the garden

Woohoo new bearings and crank is in with out having to leather it with hammer :D

Is it better to use nylocs on the 3 bolts that hold the mag housing on. Or will that cause problems with the flywheel later ????

I've used nylocs without issue and even put SS wavy washers under them for good measure.

For Uber safety why not use thin nuts with nordlocs
