Why not use it?

Is it solid copper, or a copper sandwich?

Solid copper ones were recommended by Webster. 3mm thick and anealed before each use.

Heat it on a gas flame till it glows cherry red.....Then dump it as quick as you can into a tub of cold water... it will then become soft and very flexible.....Make sure the flange on the U-pipe is flat.... file it if needed...put a smear of high heat flexible gasket on both sides of the gasket... tighten the nuts up evenly... when the scooter has been run up to normal running temperature let it cool then re tighten the nuts.....
