Try Dave Dickinson's (custom scooter painter) website as he has a procedure for painting on chrome.

Theres a guy in nottingham who has a work shop in Hucknall called Sam (surname escapes me) been featured in scootering a few episodes ago.

I think he masks off scrapes the old chrome off then sprays . He's just done a Vespa with a Quadrophenia theme which has been seen in a few custom shows.

I can always find his number if you want it

Lots of classic britbikes have paint/chrome tanks etc so it can be done sufficiently well to withstand lots of rubbing and chaffing.
A few years ago there was a company at the Stafford demonstrating the painting side - tanks already chromed - but painted there, looked splendid with all the lining and such.

Cycle Garden (http://www.cyclegarden.com/ may be worth a look) in the states does tanks for Guzzi eldorado's which look nice. Other attractive stuff on their site too.

Buy a new one and keep the shiny one as a shaving mirror
TS1 and PX stay in the garage (future barn finds) out on the GTS 300 when I go out on a scooter.
I know I’ll get there and back

Mr DD responded to an email

Yes I can do that no problem, with chrome I use a special clear from House of Kolor that alows you to lacquer chrome and / or paint on it.
