scootrs anti dive disc kit

just fitted a scootrs disc kit with anti dive, dry build before fitting panels. i have disc link and would have thought that the speedo drive hub would locate into the link . from the scootrs tech bit regaurding the kit it states that it is a drum link hub that is used for both disc and drum. my question is what stops the speedo hub side from turning ? as the slot in the hub and the link has nothing to locate the two , if you had a disc hub, inboad the stud from the hub would locate into "u" hook on the link . is it just as simple as tightening up the outer spindle nuts ? as far as the speedo is concerned i wont be using the drive and the whole kit looks top notch and fitted with very little fettling and looks to sit true in the forks. cheers simon.

I know the links are not for the scootrs version but looking at that picture it looks like you have the bit for DRUM links

i dont think its the bracket as shown in the beedspeed pics as the caliper and bracket move with the anti dive link. its the hub i cant get my head round. here is the tech bit from scootrs

Tech Notes
•Includes 2 brackets: one to weld-on to your fork (shown) but also one to bolt-on so no need to repaint. Use either one.
•On disc fork links (SX200, TV175, etc.) there is no stud to slot into the speedo cover as with drum links, so you can file off the slot in the speedo cover to make it look nicer if you want but it is hidden behind the link anyway.
•Requires drilling a hole in your headset nearby the lever support (S2 scooters have less room in the headset for the cable than S3, so you might want to drill the hole in the horncast on them), and replacing the lever support with the one supplied.
•This kit will not fit on a wide 4 inch rim, but can fit on a semi-wide rim by grinding the back of the caliper a little.
•If you want to run the hydraulic hose through the support (no hole in your headset but you must drill the support hole and thin the handlebar rod) you also need to order a 65 degree banjo bolt. If you want to loop the hose around the longer speedo cable route, order a longer 2m hose section and cut to length.
•Purchase includes full instructions with photos.

if by nipping up the spindle nuts and the speedo side of the hub spins surely it would pull the speedo cable out. i only did the nuts up hand tight i will do them up propper tomorow and see if the hub spins. cheers simon

surely u have drumtype one there but u need the disk type

The Disc type has the bolt welded on which locates into your Disc Links you have the Drum type plate , they can be swapped though!!

It shouldn't locate into fork links if it's antidive, otherwise it would lock up. The tie bar fixed to the fork leg should prevent the calliper plate/speedo housing from turning.

its the hub part that i cant fathom, if you leave the spindle nuts slack and turn the wheel as if traveling forwards the hub (speedo side) will spin until it hits the plate with caliper . i know the caliper/plate should move as it is part of the anti dive bracket.

i nipped up the spindle nuts and this seems to stop the hub from turning. idealy it looks to me as if the hub needs turning down in a lathe to remove the slot where the stub for the drum would sit and also machine away the speedo drive so it would turn through 360 deg without catching anywhere . cheers simon

just been and had another look.

as i wont be using the speedo i think i could do away with this part and machine down a short spacer tube to take up the space. i will strip it down and have a propper look. cheers simon
