sick of unfunctional indian speedos and getting old ones overhauled, i think its time to get some speedo mechanisms original veglia borletti remade for plug&play.
years ago scootopia used to sell original veglia mechanisms, calibrated in different speeds.
as sip sells "original" rally/sprint speedos made by piaggio (with the same speedo mechanism as lambretta series 3 inside), and a us scootershop "scootersoriginali" is selling these last generation (plastic housing) veglia speedo mechanisms

these should be available to get also by other shops from veglia or another source..

any ideas / infos on this subject ?

cheers

I recall someone getting them remade. I don't think they were to original spec with largely metal workings but they were suppOsed to be much better than the standard Indian remakes. I thought it was camlam that had them done and not scootopia. I think cam lam's speedos may well be the better ones. But, as usual I stand to be corrected as I have never bought one :-)

I'm using a couple of CamLam remades at present

They are very good copies and the needle is rock steady. The displayed speed is also within 2 MPH of a satnav.

They were also very reasonable- recommended

camlam repro speedos look better as the needle is dark red not orange and it might be more reliable.
but its still incomparable to the classic veglia borletti mechanism in looks and mechanics.

Got to agree about Cam Lam speedos, had one in my Gp for 6 years now and the needles steady and its pretty accutate (checked against sat nav) :D :D :anbrgin;
