I reckon 52/55 idle - 40 slide - AV266 - X13 2nd clip - 135/138 main will be firmly in the ballpark. A 250 fuel is big enough as it will easily support a 200 main jet.

X13 may be very slightly rich but X7 could be slightly weak. Once it's bedded in enough for a good thrashing you'd be best having it on the dyno to dial it in.

Cheers for the advise
Ive had a play this week with the jetting.... airscrew 2 turns out,40 slide, AV268, X2 needle second clip down, 135 main, 55 idle
With this setting it idles perfectly, revs clean, pulls away crisp. bogs/splutters (feels like fuel starvation)at 1/4 throttle then pulls like a banshee. Dropping the clip 1 made the spluttering worse.

Yesterday i went back to JB's recomended jetting- 138 main, 62 idle, AV268, X2 needle but with the clip at the top... It needs the throttle at 1/8 for it to idle , out on the road it pulls clean and strong

Whats my next step folks ???
Is it worth changing the needle for a X7 or X13, and maybe AV266 atomiser ???

Yesterday i robbed the X7 and AV266 out of the wifes GP, She cant ride it for a few weeks coz she fell off it 2 weeks ago, broke her wrist and 2 fingers and is still in a cast.
I swaped the 62 out for a 55 idle...and the thing still woudn't idle
So i striped and cleaned out the carb off the GP , swaped over the jets ect.....AV266, X7 2nd clip down, 138 main, 55 idle and airscrew out 2 turns......and hey presto !!
Its idles all day long, revs crisply, out on the road it pulls like a good'un

Time to get some running in miles and then get it back to JB for a dyno sesh 8-)

Got a monza 225 myself. The danger spot with these (and most reed kits) is especially at just over 1/4 throttle when cruising after accelerating to get up to speed then winding the throttle back to cruise.
Stick to JB's avice! If its open mouth, go AV268 x2 needle (richest clip setting you can put it on without severe four stroking). This is essential to allow enough fuel through at higher speeds on lower throttle openings. If it splutters a bit at very low revs, dont worry, it's what it acts like at higher revs thats important when the pipe kicks in.
You can fit a 50 slide in to get rid of a lot of the splutters at low revs and this will help tick over as well but don't go down to an AV266. If you need to lean off when running an air filter, change your needle to an X13 rather than the atomiser.
Camb Lamb recommend an AV268 for these kits as well. I run a decent EGT (good quality sensor) and the difference between AV266 and AV268 at lower throttle openings at higher "cruising" revs is substantial.
Other settings, Approx 50-55 idle, main 135 roughly, 350 float/needle valve.
A power jet can help substantially to cure the splutters at very low revs.
Hope this helps.
p.s do not run AV266 and X7 and high revs in the mid range for long periods of time on your set up! It will probably go pop!

Your last comment has put the shits up me now :freak:
Now that ive cleaned out the carb, i'll try JB's recomendations again
Ive just ordered a 50 slide, 58, 60 idle and a 140 main

With the needle rating, how do they go in order of lean to rich ??

lean to rich. X12, X7, X13, X2, X25
Try 55 idle, 50 slide , AV268, X2 with 135 main.
Should be very close. Get it on dyno as soon as you can if your unsure.
Most monza set ups i have seen that have been dyno'd use AV268 and X2 unless your running an air filter
