going to get my barrel re lined after Lincoln and will get Langcourts to do it . See that they do both ceramic and nikasil and was wondering if there will be any benefit in going with ceramic if only for the fact it sounds cool.... ;)

Anyone have any experience, pros cons ect.

It does sound cool and is expensive when it goes bang, very expensive,I've tried both

And now I've reverted to an iron liner, just for the 'cheapness' really

If you go by the claims, better cooling, more hp etc.... Then ceramic is your man, I believed the hype and mine is ceramic apticote and so far so good, been going easy with it . You can blow anything up if you try hard enough.

Do you know what caused it to go bang, was it anything to do with the coating? I was under the impression that the ceramic option was only slightly more exspensive than the nikasil at Langcourts.....but i have been wrong before..... :D

why would ceramic create more horsepower?i kinda doubt that

I dont know? But these fellas say so and i beleive , all hail plankton.http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j& ... v8dqCaF0cg

A 3% increase no less, that's about 3 quarters of a horse power if you're pushing out 25 hp. Not bad for the price.

Mel, who did your lining and what kit is it on? Looks as though there is diffrent types of ceramic lining available? did you look into this before you chose the apticote option and finaly what did you pay? I think Langcourts is about £130 for ceramic lining without welding or anything.

Stand corrected, just spoke to langcourts and they dont do a ceramic finish only nickasil. On a positive note its only £105 to do it. Just need to find out how much for ceramic before i decide. Must say the blurb sounds positive and i know i have the streaking that they talk about, thats been there a while but i never really thought it was an issue although id rather it hadnt been there.... :?

Sef, mine was done by the people in the previous link and cost about £150, they developed the process themselves for racing engines years ago.Mine is on a ts1. Read up on their site for all the info. That Streaking has occurred on a mates recently relined with nicasil barrel after a couple of hundred miles. For the extra money id go ceramic again no prob. Mel
