Assuming that the Mikeck has the characteristics of, say, a PM expansion, then a 47 rear (I've got a fairly cheap SIL one in mine and never had any probs with it), and a 17 front would be my choicebyron wrote: 5.2 ? got a 82 link chain, but neither std GP200 sprockets

thanks, so giving 5.5 final drive, but then I'd need to find a stretched 81 link chain...storkfoot wrote:... a 47 rear (I've got a fairly cheap SIL one in mine and never had any probs with it), and a 17 front would be my choice

ah ok cool, I think I might try that, seems the most straightforward option.storkfoot wrote:Sorry, mateI meant to say 47/ 18, 5.2 4th ratio
i have the chain, mark has a 47 crownwheel, so all i need is a front sprocket, readily available from many places. if I can't pull this, I'll maybe try a 17/46 to get a final drive in between that and what I've got now..

17/46 would be good if you're between 18 and 20 stone. If you're less than 16 stone it'll pull 18/47 of the GP200 italian/LI125S box easily. The indian GP200 is ok but has a biggish gap between 2/3 and very close between 3/4. If anyone wants a reasonable price LI150 box it's good to remember that API LI150 series 2's had exactly the same ratios as the "holy grail" LI150 boxes that people are still paying too much for.

Right so then.......
I either keep with the mk1 vijay box with a 16 front end
or
go with a italian gp200 (closer ratios), or indian if i have to.. or get a li125 box and play with sprockets
to make up a 200 box..
this is basically my options would you agree.

it's the Li125Special that has the same gearbox [but different sprockets] as the GP200.leehuggy72 wrote:... or get a li125 box and play with sprockets

thanks to noggin1969, I am going with getting to standard GP200 gearing with the 18/47 combination.
If i can still get 8000rpm in top that's about an extra 11mph.
