here's the set up:
30mm oko, 138 main, 42 pilot, jjk needle on the middle clip
scootrs exhaust
italian li 150 gearbox
15x46 sprockets
19 btdc timing
here's the problem:
it just feels like it's being held back on the top end. It seems to hit a wall at 7000 rpm. I figured that it was the pipe that holding it back but I've read here that they are getting upto 9000 rpm. Is it geared too tall? is it the pipe? any comments are always appreciated.
thanks
imola being held back?

You don't mention what ignition setup you have, presumably it's electronic not points. If not that could be your problem.
As an aside, did you get the carb from ScootRS as well. How easy did you find it to set up and how have you found it in general?

yes it is an electronic, bgm 120 watt stator with an elemec 1.9 kg flywheel. I got the carb from an ebay store, I can't remember which one tho. As far as set up goes, it was easy, much easier than the dellorto i had on a small frame.

I've just gone from exactly the same set up except from I'm using 28mm dellorto, changed to a JL3 and it's a totally different scooter now

dont think its the gearing as i run my imola on that set up and its great, might be the pipe iv had one on a scooter and didnt like them, iv got a avanti clubman on mine and it seems to just rev on for ever best pipe iv had. try running the carb open with no side pannel on just to make sure your getting enough air in also i use a 30mm delly carb

i forgot to mention that I'm running a mec race crank and that the case has been matched to the cylinder.
maybe i'm expecting too much out of the lammy, I have a smallframe that has a parmakit and a 28 mm oko and stomps all over the lammy.

7k is 68mph whereas 9k is 88mph - sounds like it's over geared. Reflecting on another thread, you'll need just short of 30bhp to hit 9k with that setup.jaelee wrote:here's the set up:

I had mine geared to 5.4 final drive [Pacemaker with 16 x 47] with a scootrs exhaust and TMX27 Mikuni, it was a rev monster and I loved it.
Long story but I geared it to 5.0 and fitted a JL3 and it killed the performance. Before big inclines and headwinds were never a problem, after they were and was always dropping down to 3rd. It was TV rodded too which made it super smooth.
After holing the piston I rebuild it with GP200 box [5.2] as I'd used the g/box for another engine and stuck an AF clubman on it to run it in. Crashed it after about 500 miles so it's not being used at the minute. Prob use an ADS race when I put it back into use.

That's interesting, as this is exactlly what my Imola does. In 1st, 2nd and 3rd it flies, but put it in 4th it hits a wall and dies. It's running a 30mm Delly, JL3 / Franspeed pipe, Italian LI150 box with 16/47 sprockets. This gives a drive of 5.0 if I'm not mistaken. As I said really nice in all gears except 4th. What could I change to improve things? I'm not trying to hijack this thread but any advice would be great.
