Thinking of repainting disc hub and was wondering the best method of removing old paint
ie some sort of blasting or paint stripper like nitromors. Seems to have a few coats on .
Also what bits should i look at changing on the hub .
thanks poppygun

Some sort of vapour blast should be fine, I'd steer clear of any sort of "shot blast" can leave the surfaces terrible rough, and can erode what should be machined, precision surfaces.
I put scrap bolts in any threaded holes. Any sort of protective finish on steel bits will be removed, I slid a bit of tubing over to protect finish and external threads. Any sort of bearing will be scrap after shot blasting, the dust will get in even if not the bigger sized grit.
And finally, wash it like it was going in yours.
Nitromors works fine usually, if somewhat slowly. A nice thick coat, wrap in cling film, leave overnight. Wash off carefully (its caustic - will burn you straight away and eventually the ally - after quite a long time). Re-do if necessary, thoroughly dry as the wet dilutes, just when you need the strong stuff.
Rubber gloves, goggles maybe even a mask, it won't help with the stink but will stop you wiping your face.

Try 'googling' Soda Blasting. Only removes paint and doesn't mark the surfaces, washes off in water too. Great for ally items, brings carbs up like new, doesn't remove rust though.
