hello all, sorry but heres a fairly standard question that I'm sure has raised its head a few times....!

2 port 65 Sprint Ive got with a standard 20/17 carb and a SIP road exhaust (upped the main jet a few). Although I like the small difference the exhaust makes I'm sure it can breath a little easier if I tune it (gently) a little more. With a fair wind I'm getting about 48mph on GPS :| which I'm not sure is far out but doesn't quite set me on fire :D
Heres what I'd like to do which seems a mild way forward. Pinasco 177 2 port kit and a 24/24 Carb, but maybe only the carb to start off with;
Questions:
1) Ive tinkered with the bike for a year and converted to electronic ignition but never done much more. I'm quite a practical chap. Is this beyond me or is it really just a bolt on job?
2) should I just put the carb on first and see the difference, and for that matter is a 20/20 carb enough? I understand I need to up the main jet a few(how many) but does any of the other jets need changing?
3) When I hear 'match the ports' what does this mean?

Lots more to ask I'm sure but this will do for now. Thanks in advance Kevin

with the pinasco, yr pipe and a 24/24 you'll be well pleased. the 2 port kit is plug and play, however, the carb box will need to be opened up a bit to match the 24/24.

thanks guygrr. What does open up the carb box entail? Does it mean you open up the carb at the point it meets the block for better flow? Also theres an aluminium version of the Pinasco kit. Is this overkill for a Sprint?
Cheers Kevin

Depends what you want to do really.

There's an alloy Pinasco 177 for 3 port motors and there's no reason why you wouldn't be able to cut a 3rd port.
Taking it a little forward there's no reason you couldn't use the Quattrini M1X with a 28 or 30 mm sidedraught.

OK thanks for that. Does anyone know if I can do this without taking the main engine out? I think I can but have read one report saying otherwise? Also http://www.lambretta-teile.de are selling a standard kit and a Pinasco GT kit. Whats the difference? They also sell the Al version so its not that. Hes usually good at responding but not today!
