I've just acquired a JL, looking at the stub, for standard port, without the gasket in there's a 3mm or so gap and the sleeve touches the fins.

With the gasket in it looks like there's about 1mm of clearance from the fins, but that's not tightened down. I think if I tighten it the sleeve will touch / jam on the fins.

Is this normal? Do I need to grind the fins a little?

You may need to grind the fins a little or the stub just to clear. It's just one of those things that crops up.

I'll 2nd that, had to do it on both of the Indian ally 225 barrels that I've had, no problem with the Avanti though 8-)
