has any body got any experience with this cowling or any other chopped down versions?
My head cowling is buggered, so Im gonna butcher it Allstyles style and give it a bash on my RB, Not as severely as the Allstyles one but im gonna cut away most of the right side and the underneath, also remove the splash plate and see if there's any difference,
Any thoughts any one?
Allstyles half head cowling

My mates got one on his RB20 in an S2. No problems, not got a splash plate and i think the rear runners are trimmed underneath. i want to run one on my rapido 232 but am waiting to see if anyone else is brave enough first. :anbrgin;jonashford wrote:thatl'll be a no then!

do u know if he has noticed any drop in temp?
would love to see some objective evidence - possibly a back to back test with similar start temps throughout engine, then the same rev range, time and load.
i do remember Ian Frankland mentioning that the indian cowlings were better with regards a larger cut out on the kick start side to allow hot air to escape

Ive cut my head cowling down and fitted it, also found I had the wrong flywheel cover on for my flywheel, so a new one has gone on, Ive cut the grill out the centre as well. Just need some dry weather now for a road test, started the scoot up and cud feel a gud draught across the barrel much more than before but it remains to be seen weather its directed in the right place? I had a splash plate fitted, but Ive bent that back so as to form a kind of fin that may direct air up in to the barrel area.
All remains to be seen what the effects of these changes are!

i know he's not got an EGT on it but will ask him what his thoughts are. Chances of getting much sense out of him are slim though. :biggrin:jonashford wrote:Thnx for that, bigmuff wrote:My mates got one on his RB20 in an S2. Thnx Bigmuff, I took mine out for a ride today, only did about 5 miles took it up to 70 mph, the temp rose to 178c hopefully the weather will be ok at the weekend and Ill give it a proper test ride.
The main thing is it didnt seem to be any higher which was always my fear, as my scooter is a full panel work scoot. I did cut the running boards down under the bridge area to help with the cooling.

Do they still fit to the elongated cylinder head nut?
Any pictures of this view?
Might just get an old one and cut it to fit

I do not try to explain why I ride Lambrettas,
For those who understand, no explanation is necessary,
For those who don't, no explantion is possible.
