bearing/motorbuild problems!

Starting to build my motor this morning. Problem, my rear hub bearing (brand new CASA bearing) fits right in the case with finger pressure!!! In and out! I did a quick measurement and get 2.025", I also have on hand a brand new JBL from India, it measures roughly 2.045" and also an old but in great shape Innocenti bearing and it measures about the same, 2.045"! So this is a TS1 and therefore would like a good quality bearing in there!!! I'm thinking that with a little gasket maker around the casa bearing inserted I'll be ok, because the seal plates hold it in place anyway.
Thoughts?

Hi,these bearings should be a nice tight fit ,i usually warm the casing up and drop them in place,if the bearings you have don't fit then try to find a bearing that does.

You may have a warn casing but that's unlikely its normally the bearing that the wrong size,hope this helps.

Don't put in a s**t one just because it's to hand.

its often better to use a 40 odd year old innocenti one and just replace seals , issues like you discribe and also problems with shimming of gearbox and binding

agree with Ricspeed- newer ain't always (ever??) better!

If the original Innocenti bearing is good, I'd be inclined to go with that rather than risk a part that has had "size" problems in the past.

As a follow-up on this, I did use the CASA bearing and used a smear of gasket maker on it. It was then a right b@5t@rd to fit in!!! So I'm more then sure it will work just as intended. The problem I have with using an old inno bearing is that while I think it looks fine and I do not find that is has any side to side play etc., I'm no expert!!

Sometimes this can happen if the case has been sandblasted a little to much..I had the same problem and used loktite bearing retainer.

This case and cover had certainly been sandblasted by the previous owner. And I'd firmly believe with my experience of sandblasting, these were done a touch too much and with a far too coarse of grit!!! But they were still very usable.
