I need a new ignition for my TS1 240. I am going to need DC power for a GPS speedo, EGT and a Rev counter too and assume i will need to run a battery. I just wondered which system would be best? I would like to tinker with the Readspeed CDi too (or similar) but there doesn't seem to be any feedback yet. I used to run an Augusto 7000 and it helped.
I have a lightened AF flywheel, so the BGM might be cheaper, but a mate of mine swears by the Variatronic? If its good enough for Charlie....
Also, if i run AC and DC, can i switch both systems on with the ignition key, or do i need 2 switches?
BGM or Variatronic?

Might be wrong but think the variotronic is AC only check the thread on the DC conversion -

The variation if is AC with a dc trickle charge facility. It will do what you want but personally I would go for a BGM and do the full DC conversion using a Wassel type regulator rectifier as discussed in depth on this and other forums.
Sounds good. Can you point me in the direction of the Wassel regulator topic / and or web info please?

Great. Thanks for the links. If i run a Koso Rev counter, a GPS speedo and an EGT, do you think i might need to get involved with relays, or is that just for spot lamps etc, that draw loads of power? I don't want to melt anything!
