problem, after approx 1 mile engine stalls and will start again but with nothing on the throttle unless the ramair rubber boot and filter are removed, then will run again, although a bit groggy, the engine was dyno tuned at chissel speed after rebuild, it has a clubman exhaust and a 25mm dellorto phbl carb, main jet 101, needle D29P3,atomiser AQ270, pilot 50, slide 40,denso W20ES-U spark plug, the engine will start first kick with choke and tick over ok, the engine has done 40 miles since rebuild and is still being run in,the spark plug is black and sooty when inspected, any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

First thing I'd check is that your choke is closing fully off once she's started and has warmed up. You may be getting a lot of spitback building up in the carb bellows, which is preventing her starting again, unless you remove the filter. You should also be using a Nippon Denso W21 or W24 plug (equates to NGK BS7 &BS8 plugs, ie, multiply by 3) depending on what type of riding you do.

check the fuel supply for starvation problems
youll not always see it on a short flow test so measure amount over 60 secs in first 30 seconds record then again in second 30 secs ,test in on and reserve positions and check the taps lever corresponds to the taps position.
what filter u running ,if a bellows then drill a small hole at bottom below the carbs venturi to bleed off excess fuel

dont use a 7 or 8 if you intend to ride it hard go 9 on plug

Just read about your plug and I run the denso 27 in the TS1 and it runs far better , a 20 seems pretty hot . I've got a NGK 8 in at the minute but as above run a NGK9 for long journeys prone to a decent cruising speed.

let me know how you got on after our chat earlier .

regards

500ml in 60 seconds so 250/250
if u get 250 then 150 then you might have a breather problem or a blocked filter
