Excellent, he mentioned that offer when I ordered mine from him, gotta say even more of a discount over the cost of our more traditional oils is very gud, I hope the prices stay as gud when it gets really popular which I can see it doing! :D :D

I mixed a bit with some rock oil today, in the oil jug. Seemed to mix ok no seperation i cud see

Just added 2.5 litre of petrol to the scoot and seemed ok, the test will be Morecambe at the weekend. Must say funny smell to it in the container and thin viscosity , but seems to mix well to the petrol i had in the can.

What engine are u using it on?

Mines a RB236 used a gallon so far no problem dont know if its less smokey or not as ive been messing with my jetting as always!

I've used the SIP stuff at 3% for the last 4000 miles in a standard TS1, a lot of which was flat out on the motorway. No problems but I haven't had the top end off since. I have to say that whatever oil I've used over the years, I've never noticed poor running as a result, or an increased propensity to seize.

That said, I was chatting to the lad who does my MOTs a couple of weeks back. He's an old racer of 2 stroke bikes and he was telling me that in the late 70s he was part of a team that tested the then new fully synthetic oils. Their brief was basically to run the engines [they were bikes and apparently one Series 1 Lammy :freak: :freak: ] to destruction at a 1% mix. They had comparable machines running on the standard oils of the time which I presume were mineral.

When the engines were split at the end of the trial he said that the wear on the cranks and top ends on the synthetic run engines was next to nothing whereas the the non-synthetic were worn out with noticeable ridges in the crank pins and bearings. He's been a convert to synthetic oils ever since.

However, given the cost of fully synthetic oils, even if running at say 2% rather than 3%, I take the view now that the top end and the crank will need rebuilding/ replacing at some stage anyway on a highly tuned Lammy. Synthetic oil will probably not postpone this for any length of time so I'd rather take the risk of a cheaper oil :|

I bought some Morris two stroke today in Dublin and it works out that at a mix of 4% I will be using €1 of oil for every litre of petrol,I wont be buying it again.I have also read that Castrol 747 prefers high reving engines and its expensive aswell,even the castrol power 2T fully synthetic costs €17 per litre over here so it would be a huge difference cash wise if the SIP oil was of a sufficient quality to run on a TT3. If it is good enough for 4000 miles on a TS1 which would run hotter I cant see why it wouldnt work.

Stanard ish ts1, which gets no mercy i must say, and agree with Storkfoot (alright pal!!). We're always in the guts of an engine the more you tune it , so i for one am up for testing new oils.Technology has came on considerably since the old mineral oils so with a jd rating and fully synth what could go wrong...... ;)

Alright, Baz. Let us know how you get on with getting the oil out of the drum, mate. Looks messy but for £4 a litre, I don't mind a bit of a mess :bigsm:
