Ok. After building my 1st engine, rode for a couple of months but always had trouble finding neutral. Even though I adjusted the cable, problem persisted, and sometimes sat at lights with the clutch held in (not good I know).

On the last ride, clutch started slipping all over the place and the kickstart jammed. Had to push it home in a storm.

So, before this novice starts stripping the engine, do these symptoms identify specific problems? Scoot is a s1 engine w/ GP crank and ex-SIL GP clutch bell etc.

Any help always welcomed. Cheers.

best to get the chain cover off and have a look, and then go from there.

I have had this with GP sprockets and surflex plates, not enough clearance so clutch dragging

the back of the clutch sprocket needs relieving/machining to allow the plates to sit back further, or thinner plates and steels to do the same.Needs 1.5mm from memory

Terribletaff will machine it for you ( ian frankland)

Refitted a old sx sprocket temporarily much more clearance as deeper
