I got a p2 lump in bits...i asked a mate to put it together as i was busy....a couple of years later i've decided to put the engine in a spare frame i had. The engines in, everything's connected and i've come to put the kickstart on...the kickstart is angling downwards and there's not enough gap between the kick start and the floor to even get a decent kick ???? As far as i'm aware (please correct me if i'm wrong) the kick start shaft can't be put in incorrectly... this leaves me thinking it may be a rally shaft and they are different ?? It's a bit of a job to drop the engine and split the cases if the problem could be solved with a different kickstart.....any replies (usefull ones !!) gratefully recieved.
Try a Rally or T5 kickstart, the splines are in different position to the PX ones.

check splines mick could have rounded off on the kick start
live life your a long time dead
might be wrong quadrant/lever fitted. i put a 150 super lever on a PX shaft and it was pushing the panel off! probly summat simple.
yeah deffo got a rally type quadrant in there bud,ive just built a p2 lump for my sprint and i changed the quadrant to maintain the curly kickstart, the splines are a bit further clockwise than the px type quadrant,so it will point to the floor like yours, you'll just have to fit a curly type kickstart lever to overcome the problem unless you fancy splitting the casings to change the quad...mick1 wrote:ducksta wrote:check splines mick could have rounded off on the kick start
Splines ok...it's more of a shaft alignment problem, which i don't think can happen (or wrong quadrant !!)
