i have a 1963 vespa,i think its either a vbb or vba but not certain, the engine however is a vnt1 which i believe was built for the swiss market, the kickstart is damaged i.e.the teeth are worn and i need to source another one,the teeth on the kickstart go all the way round as opposed to half or 3/4 as on other models i've had,i have tried looking on european vespa forums to get more info and the elusive kickstart but i only speak english, can anyone help me?thanks in advance neil

the engine has 8" wheel and the kickstart i need is with the tread on the end moulded in and you dont need a pedal rubber, similar to a small frame kickstart,i got some info on the net that some parts of the vnt1 engine are the same as vbb and vbb, this is the first time i've seen a kickstart with the teeth all the way round, wonder if anyone can tell me what the kickstart on the gt125 looks like

Sounds like you need a fully spline'd kick start quadrant which were common on most VNA and early VNB motors. It shouldn't be that hard to track one down a used one as it's pretty common for people to switch it out for the later style 1/4 spline'd type that aren't know for stripping as easily as the version you are looking for. I'm pretty sure I have one or too in storage but the shipping for Canada isn't worth it.

Good luck,

Tim

hello tim,the quadrant thats on the scooter must be a fully splined on to match the kickstart, you reckon if i can locate a quadrant from a vbb or vnb and a kickstart to match that would fit into my engine?i will then have to get an engine gasket?

Yes a VBB/Sprint quadrant will fit into the engine no problem.

Here is one that will fit your current quadrant, but it has the later style kick area:
