Must be a very early one. As in 1959 they introduced the airbox between the toolbox and the petrol tank. The ladies and their fur coats would make the engine flood as they would block the air entrance of the frame.
However, sorry to put the authority of the illustrious College of Lambrettisti at the LCGB, but one thing is the English registration and a very different thing is the date when a Milanese worker, woke up early in the morning and stamped that frame after having his caffe machiatto :smug:
I take care of the frame database of the Lambretta Club of Spain and I have reg plates from the 70's in Lambrettas that where made in the 60's.... :D

P.S: Do you intend to say that Ricspeed is a puff or the other way round?

Eh!!???

What I meant was that allthough the frame I had was clearly a frame breather and will have been built in 1958 the numbering on the frame (stamping still infront of engine mount) was acording to lambretta archives out side the number ranges given so it was given a 1959 date ...rightly or wrongly :s

ive also got a 59 framebreather thats frame numbers are outside the range, ive also got a roadtest for a 59 125 series 1 that is clearly a framebreather (the rectangular box type, not the supposedly later round filter type), my theory is that with sales through the roof innocenti either used up obsolete stock or sent other countries allocations to the uk, i really think you need to take innocenti`s records with a pinch of salt

You guys are up to something tasty here mate. I didn't want to put the common knowledge into doubt here, I just think it is all very interesting data and it should serve us for future refferences.

Best,

This quite interesting, the scoot has come with what i thought was the original 6 digit number plate, I got the records for the scoot from the local archives where the registration came from and it it came up as a 58 Li, but the LCGB have given the frame number as a 59 so they have told me i can't claim the number that came with it... think i will have to do some more digging to see what the exact dates are of first registration v's perceived manufactured date.

no ...so far all the 59 frame breathers i have come across seem to be 125 frames ...the only explanation i have been given is there may have been a fair few 125 frames left over when they changed the intake system then stamped up and used just prior to the introduction of the series 2
