Hi all,
I have taken the piston out of my TV 175 and it is standard at 62mm diameter. It has 2 piston rings. The oversize pistons that I have seen for sale around the internet etc have 3 piston rings. I assume that a 3 ringed piston would be ok to use??
Any advice would be very welcome.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
Cheers
Simon

will work fine assuming clearances are OK
Personally I prefer the 2 ring thin variety although these can be hard to find at times in 62mm size

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the quick reply. I have been on to our good friend Steve at Piston Broke to see if he has any oversize pistons in stock. He must be closed this week as I have tried to phone him and have sent an e-mail, but no real hurry really.
I will get the cylinder to him once he or me has sourced a decent piston.
Cheers

Steve really is a knowledgeable bloke (albeit an old rocker!!)- just let him have the piston and barrel and he'll do the rest.
Might be worth asking him to put two small holes in the piston either side of the exhaust port area- this allows some extra mixture to lubricate this "hot" area, thus reducing any chances of a nip up- he's done this on the last couple of rebores he's done for me, and I've had absolutely no problems with them- indeed on the last one I went to 2 1/2 thou clearance with no probs- runs really sweet.
