What type of battery is recommended ?

Is there a sealed / gel type / lithium battery that can live in a leg shield toolbox, as i don't have a battery tray ?

Have a look in Maplin atb their 12 volt sealed batteries to see what physical size you want and then buy one off ebay for about a 1/3rd of the price. I use 7.2 amp which will fit into the tool box and is big enough to give ample capacity to run spot lights for short bursts as well as charging phones and inflating airbeds etc. Smaller ones are available.

I'm using one of those small BGM regulators and it charges my battery. SIL stator but I'm swapping it out for a BGM one ( on order) mainly for the better pick up. On the electrics, I've an LED rear stop and tail, halogen front, 12 DC horn all work well and it chargers the battery. The only thing is that I don't do much night riding. It was a faff on wiring everything thing up, got a 30 amp inline fuse for the battery but I need to put a 15 amp one in.
