Just rebuilt a standard PX125 engine after couple of seizures [possibly due to lack of oil...]
So carefully checked the oil delivery on rebuild.
Put some oil into the pump before connecting the hose, this went away when the engine was running, so figured that was all ok. Connected the hose and the air bubbles were pulled towards the carb, so all seemed fine.

Now, after a few days of not being ridden, the owner says that there is air in the oil hose again, is this normal ? I imagine once the engine is running again, this will be pulled through and oil will get to where it needs to be. But the owner seems concerned. Could there be a problem with the connection at the oil tank ? Or the routing of the pipe ?

I would suspect the engine to air box gasket. Other wise check to see if oil can be found to be leaking some where. Carb gasket and oil pump gaskets can weep also. I'd prob swap out those gaskets and use a touch of hylomar or gasket sealer as a matter of course.

new gaskets [with a smear of blue hylomar] fitted on rebuild.
no signs of any oil around the airbox...

jarv, NEVER put ANY sealant stuff between carb box, /carb on an autolube engine. it blocks the channels needed to feed the oil into the engine. fit gaskets only with a fine smear of grease. first couple of tanks of fuel, put 2% mix in , until your sure the autolube is functioning correctly. make sure its an autolube carb, and an autolube carb box . sillicon sealant has its uses, vespa carbs isnt one of them.

I will go take a look at it.
He reports a leak from the fuel filter cover, so will take a new seal out to him and check the oil passageways out again.
Good tip about adding some oil in the tank

I have known air get into the hose from ill fitting oil pipe
