I'm still left wondering though, why didn't Innocenti do it this way to start with??

I don`t want to be seen as a pennypincher, but what is stopping you cutting down a standard metal cowling ? I must admit it does look a good idea, but why has nobody thought of this before?

the later indian cowlings have a larger cut out to improve hot air exit but why didnt they do this ?
