This headset top was flaky chrome when i bought the scoot and a mate sprayed it with cans and i wasnt unhappy with the job he did. However i've just noticed lots of "pimples" over part of it. Anythoughts/reason?

looks like micro- blistering, caused by spraying in damp conditions. the pimples are caused by moisture that is now trying to evaporate outwards. you"ll have to sand back the paint as far as necessary to remove the pimples, before spraying again.

always worth draining your compressor before you paint anything you'll be amazed how much moisture can accumulate in a tank. There is a drain on the bottom good luck with it

I agree, it does look like micro-blistering. This is usually caused by not allowing filler or spray filler to fully dry out after wet flatting as it soaks up water like a sponge :o Before 2k primer came along pros used to use a product called Polyester Spray Filler (PSF) which was highly prone to blistering months after the job was done. Spray putty/filler in rattle cans will have the same problem. I doubt that you will have enough depth of paint to flat those blisters down and even if you did there it is likely that more blisters will form in time. You really need to get all the paint off and start again allowing the part to dry out fully in a warm room after any wet flatting is done.

TS1 and PX stay in the garage (future barn finds) out on the GTS 300 when I go out on a scooter.
I know I’ll get there and back
