..you could try the Mitaka piston as used in the avanti kit and widely used in yamaha rdlc for years..do an ebay search you might well be surprised by the price..

Avanti uses it's own bespoke piston 16mm wrist pin.
I believe the gt kit uses the rd piston.
I'm looking for an 18mm pin piston.

Besides the KX piston, might be worth giving the Suzuki ts250 piston a go, Mitaka do a full kit for around £40, Beedspeed have 'em on their site. Good VFM. You have to cut your own windows but whats a little fettling amongst friends
