My tom tom satnav speedo has always worked fine even going through small tunnels and yes it would die if the tunnel was really long but then i can't remember the last long tunnel i went through on my scoot..and all this is bearing in mind that my sat nav is working in a mobile tin can !!!coaster wrote:2 potential problems with GPS speedos would be that the Lammy headset is made of metal which will probably affect the signal and the other problem would be that your speedo will die whenever the GPS sugnal is lost, i.e. in tunnels. Haaving said that, I live with the 2nd problem already with the Garmin forrunner I'm currently using as
well as the time it sometimes takes to find a signal.

I also use a TomTom on my GTS and it loses the signal in all 3 of the Thames tunnels as well as the Limehouse Link (approx 1/2 mile) which has speed cameras iniang wrote:My tom tom satnav speedo has always worked fine even going through small tunnels and yes it would die if the tunnel was really long but then i can't remember the last long tunnel i went through on my
Of course your satnav will work in your tin box car, it has windows, in fact some won't work with heated windscreens and have to use an arial. The GPS speedo MIGHT have taken this into account and put the antena behind the speedo face?iang wrote:all this is bearing in mind that my sat nav is working in a mobile tin can !!!
a lot of satnav's wont work in an airconditioned car because of the reflective coating on the laminate plastic sheet between glass , this is why citreon ,renault and peugout leave a small satnav sized area clear in the lower part of windscreen in line with middle of dashboard

I'm just lucky then..I've never had a problem with mine bearing in mind i got a billy basic astra van.. heated screen, air con...whats that ??????.Of course your satnav will work in your tin box car, it has windows, in fact some won't work with heated windscreens and have to use an arial. well i'll have to see how i get on.The gps speedo does not have a inbuilt antenna it's on a cable so you can mount it where you like...so i'll have to experiment
