Hi all.

I was helping a mate with his carb, and it was totally worn out.
Needle impossible to identify and the slide was jerking in the carb about 4-5 mm.

Neither did this carb have a 350 float seat and needle
and the fuel supply hole was not bored out.

The question is how this carb will behave on a TS1?

Probably the fuel starvation problem will occour, but can this be overcompensated by a large main jet?

It is hard for me to see how this engine would be stable at flat out conditions. The owner states it has run problem free for 5 years.

Please share your VHSA experience.

cheers

I run a 32 VHSA on Two of mine, One has the fuel hole drilled and a 350 float needle valve kit fitted...the other is std no hole drilled this runs on a standard TS1 no porting just blended and transferes enlarged down their length with lowish compression, Its been running for over 7 years with no problems, four Euros plus many National and local rallys. I have always run it through a Ram air filter with a Hole in panel. Nearly 13,000 miles on this carb ridden fairly hard never suffered fuel starvation never seized, any carb wear has been limited to needle jet and needle and carb rubbers...But on a thirsty engine I would enlarge the fuel hole in the carb and fit a larger float valve, 300-350....Im not saying this is right its just what Ive run... 8-)

PS The slides as new seem to have a little excessive playbut I cant tell you what the clearance is cus I never measured it but they do move front to back if you push the slide about when new....Hope this helps

I'm running a VHSA28 on my Mugello 186.
I did think the slide seemed a bit slack [bought it off ebay], but it's been fine, pretty good in fact.
I did do the fuel inlet mod and fitted a 350 float needle.

Thanks alot for the answers.

I think the carb body is fine, as most of the wear seems to be on the slide.

The other parts will be fitted new, if a decent carb doesn't show up for a fair price.

cheers

Yes I noticed the plastic guide was interchangeable... allthough most of the wear is still on the slide... somewhat strange.

on the other hand, it appeared to be bloody hard to get parts for these nowadays.

Five dellorto dealers here in sweden and none of them have the parts in stock.

any hints on a reliable and fast dealer that could supply these fast?

it's my mates lammy and his been without hees licence for two years,
now its spring 15 deg C and dry road... you bet he is eager to pull around,
i said wait, me must have the parts :-)

cheers
