I am currently using a 46 tooth crownwheel and was considering trying a 47 tooth. Are there any which I should not use :?: or you would use :?: I am running a TS1 225 with a Devtour pipe (hoping to change to a Franspeed) with an Italian GP200 gearbox on a 46/19 (at the mo)

Now now mr burns .....patience right so what you want to know is "should I lower my gearing"? Well its a case of what works for you ,do you find your motor struggles to pull your current set up ? But as you intend changing the pipe its pointless even considering the gearing till you actually have it bolted on to youb scoot

  What Im after knowing is: The currant set up I have ie: TS1 225 with Italian GP200 gear box on a 46/19 with a Devtour and Mikuni carb....runs ok, but, when I'm at top end of the rev range, it sounds like Im thrashing the balls off it and it dont seem to be going that fast  I was wondering if it would be worth changing the crown wheel from a 46 to a 47 and using a 18 front sprocket or just change the Devtour to a Franspeed and use the set up thats in it now :?: I know that the Devtour is a revvy pipe and the Franspeed is supposed to be better. I have the same gearing and 46/19 in my other scoot but it runs a Taffspeed pipe and its brill.....HELP

Changing to 18/47, 5,2 over your current 17/48 giving 4.8 final drive ratio, will rev more, the Devtour isn't a revvy pipe though and I found 5.0 to be the best set up for it, this would be 19/48 with an 83 link chain with your gearbox. I now run the same setup with a Franspeed Race

larger front sprocket increases gear ratio ...larger rear decreases it ...and visa versa
